ECA VIEW: Heard about the 2019 event cinema slate?!

The Event Cinema Association is delighted to announce the return of the ECA Slate Day on 17 January at Vue West End, London. Grainne Peat explains what’s on

The Event cinema Association’s slate day in January is set to be a feast of upcoming content, data insights and market intelligence from our partners ComScore. With a formal welcome from me as the new managing director of ECA, I will also have a chance to share the strategic vision for the Association. The day will be followed the ECA Box Office Awards and evening networking and drinks reception.

The ECA Awards are designed to celebrate achievements in the sector,. recognising both the production and distribution of content and the crucial and multi-faceted role that cinemas play in the successful screening of event cinema content. ECA Members are invited to put forward nominations during November and can vote for selected categories during the month of December. Some awards will be determined purely by box office results.

The ECA represents a wide range of global professionals who work in or support the sector. Whether you distribute, showcase or facilitate delivery of event cinema content, your attendance at this re-launch is greatly welcomed.

Reasons to be cheerful (and a member)

The past year has been a buoyant one for event cinema and with a refreshed Association, it is a good time to learn more about what the ECA offers members and how we plan to champion growth and leverage opportunities in our sector.

As a non-profit organisation funded by subscriptions, the ECA recently launched new membership packages In order to be as inclusive as possible and to reduce cost of getting  involved with the Association. We now have a flat fee membership for any organisation/individual working in or supporting event cinema. This is set at £500 per annum.

The Association offers a reduced rate of £200 for cinema operators with 10 sites or fewer.

All members will be able to send two members of staff to attend the ECA Slate Day FOC.

All members will have reduced rates to attend ECA events that fall outside of their membership allocation.

What can you enjoy as a member? There are many reasons to join the ECA, but first and foremost is the opportunity to network with like-minded professionals. In addition, as a member, you will also receive access to event cinema news, information and best practice guidelines from across the global community.

One of the central roles of the ECA is to support members on relevant issues, notably we offer access to specialised advice, as well as all-important promotional materials and listings for special events. Our technical support includes ComScore data on event cinema, guidance on content classification, PRS, and global data insights, as well as technical delivery information. We run training workshops on member-focused subjects. and help create a strategy and the tools for promoting event cinema to a range of consumers and other sectors within the creative industry. In short, the ECA is pretty engaged — so why not get involved?
